Piling contractors across London and the South

Geovex is a piling contractor with three offices: London (HQ), Southampton and Leatherhead. We install mini, CFA, SFA, steel cased driven and screw piles, and we build the ground beams, pile caps and raft slabs that go on top.

This page is the index to where we work. Each area below has its own page, built around one to three jobs we have completed there, with the pile numbers, loads and ground recorded at the time. Those jobs are examples: only a selection of our jobs is shown on this site.

AREAS WE COVER

Ten areas, with examples of our work

Start with the area nearest your site and read the example jobs on it. Each job card gives the pile type, the number of piles, the loads, the ground met and the time on site, where our records state them, and links to the full write-up with photographs.

The ground section on each page reports only what those jobs found, and it is no substitute for a ground investigation of your own site.

  • London

London (HQ) on Tottenham Court Road is our head office, and every London borough is covered.

Three London examples are on the page. At Mill Hill, 15 bored mini piles and a 250mm raft went in for a block of garages, because a shared drain ran too close for driven piles.

In Enfield, 12 screw piles carry a nursery extension beside mature oak trees, and in Bromley eight driven mini piles sit under two bases built for LED video screens.

  • Southampton and Hampshire

Our Southampton office is at 15 Rockstone Place. The Hampshire page covers Southampton, Winchester, Eastleigh, Fareham, Portsmouth, Basingstoke and Andover.

The larger of the two Hampshire examples is Signal Box Farm in Burghclere: 36 steel cased mini-piles and a 164.5m² raft slab for a new house, finished in 12 days on ground that alternated between clay and sand to 18m.

The other is a four-day screw pile job for a garden building at Greywell, on gravel and flint over chalk.

  • Essex

The Essex page names Chelmsford, Brentwood, Epping, Saffron Walden, Basildon and Southend, and London (HQ) is the nearest office.

On High Road in Buckhurst Hill we installed 26 sectional flight auger piles in high-plasticity London Clay, then a 92m² raft slab and ground beams, on an infill plot between existing houses. It took about five and a half weeks.

The second Essex example is nine screw piles in boulder clay for a cottage extension at Arkesden, set out around an existing well and finished in four days.

  • Surrey

For Surrey the Leatherhead office is closest. The page covers Guildford, Woking, Epsom, Dorking, Reigate, Farnham, Leatherhead and Chertsey.

At Tudor Rose in Chertsey a compact Klemm 708 rig installed 27 CFA piles in gravel with groundwater a metre down, followed by 120 linear metres of ground beams. The job ran for about five weeks.

It is the page to read if your site is wet: every ground beam there was cast in full sideform shuttering because of the loose soils and the high water table.

  • Sussex

The Sussex page covers Chichester, Brighton, Worthing, Horsham and Crawley, and all three offices take Sussex enquiries.

On The Avenue in Chichester, 38 CFA piles went into chalk through flint hard enough to wear out two lead augers. The team drilled deeper to steady collapsing bores, added piles where six met refusal, and cast a 116m² raft slab.

The page sets out what the desk data predicted and what the rig met instead.

  • Berkshire and Reading

Reading, Windsor, Bracknell, Newbury and Wokingham are on the Berkshire page, and any of the three offices can be called.

At Riseley we piled a new dairy for Village Maid Cheese. Thirty driven mini-piles at 150mm went into London Clay near mature poplar trees, under a 154m² raft slab, in a four-week programme.

The same page covers Lacuna at Winkfield, Windsor, where 11 screw piles and reinforced concrete ground beams were finished in about six days.

  • Dorset, Bournemouth and Poole

The Dorset page takes in Bournemouth, Poole, Wimborne and Dorchester, and the Southampton office is nearest.

At Lonnen Road in Wimborne, 26 injected SFA piles and 117 linear metres of ground beams were built as one four-week programme, with sonic testing of the piles and cube testing of the concrete.

The Wimborne record gives no soil profile, and the page says so instead of guessing.

  • Buckinghamshire

Four Buckinghamshire towns are named on the page: Buckingham, Aylesbury, Milton Keynes and High Wycombe. Ring whichever office you like.

The Moreton Road job in Buckingham was 244 CFA piles and over 417 linear metres of beams for a multi-plot housing development, delivered in about ten weeks.

Read it if you are planning several plots at once and want to see piles and beams run as one programme.

  • Kent

Six Kent towns are on the page: New Romney, Maidstone, Sevenoaks, Tonbridge, Dartford and Canterbury. Call any office.

On Lydd Road in New Romney, 64 driven steel cased mini piles and reinforced concrete ground beams went in for four new-build chalet bungalows, on soft alluvial clay over sand.

Driven piles were proposed there because they produce no spoil and need less piling mat than CFA piles, and all 64 piles passed integrity testing.

  • Exeter and Devon

The Devon page names Exeter, Exmouth, Newton Abbot, Torquay, Paignton, Totnes, Tiverton, Cullompton, Taunton and Slapton.

At Carlane Lodge in Slapton, 30 driven mini-piles and 109 linear metres of ground beams took about two weeks on a sloping site.

Our coverage is wider than the ten pages here. Hertfordshire is served as well: our Harpenden job is among the projects on this site. The county has no page of its own at present.

WHO WE WORK FOR

Piling for builders, developers and engineers

We work for builders, developers, groundworkers and engineers who have drawings and a programme to keep. These pages are written for multi-plot housing, commercial buildings and jobs of several weeks. The jobs on this site run from four days to about ten weeks, and from six piles to 244.

We take smaller jobs too. Either way the first step is the same: send the drawings, the site address and any ground investigation report, and we will come back with a detailed quote within 24 hours.

Which piling method went where

Four piling methods are used across these areas, and the jobs show where each one fits. Screw piles were used at Greywell, Arkesden, Winkfield and Enfield. Steel cased driven mini-piles went in at Burghclere, Riseley, Slapton, New Romney and Bromley. Sectional flight auger piles were used at Buckhurst Hill, Wimborne, Mill Hill and Harpenden. CFA piles were used at Chertsey, Chichester and Buckingham.

On every one of those jobs we built the concrete too: a raft slab on some, ground beams or pile caps on others, and both a slab and beams at Buckhurst Hill.
